Wayne Hill, Attorney

In 1978, Wayne Hill graduated first in his class from South Texas College of Law. Wayne immediately began his long-lasting legal career as a prosecutor with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office. During this role, he was trained as a prosecutor and graduated from the National College of District Attorneys Career Prosecutor School in 1980. In 1982, Wayne became a private criminal defense attorney. Wayne Hill brings this unique skill set to his experience since he has been trained as a prosecutor and has decades of experience as a criminal defense attorney.

Wayne Hill has represented clients in state and federal courts in a number of cases, ranging from drug possession to capital murder. He has been named by Texas Monthly and Texas Super Lawyer magazine as a “Texas Super Lawyer.” Furthermore, a Houston Chronicle poll of Harris County judges and prosecutors named him as one of the top criminal defense lawyers in the Houston area.

Wayne Hill has been certified in Criminal Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization since 1985. He is also a licensed attorney in New York. He is admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court, the Fifth Circuit of Appeals, and the United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas. He served as president of the Harris County Criminal Lawyers Association, as a director of the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, and as a member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. He furthermore served as a member of the Harris County District Court’s Capital Murder Peer Review Committee and is currently a member of the Second Judicial Region of Texas Capital Murder Certification Committee. For years he served as Panel Chair of a State Bar Grievance Committee in the Houston area. He recently completed 6 years of service as a member of the Texas Board of Legal Specialization Criminal Law Advisory Commission.
